WHAT'S THE BLK WINTERFEST?
An opportunity for Black Canadians of all ages to partake in winter activities in a safe environment while highlighting a sense of belonging. The BLK WinterFest is challenging deep rooted stereotypes within the Black community through promotion of healthy lifestyle both physically and mentally. This event takes place during Black History Month every weekend throughout February. Let’s take the time to highlight Black joy outdoors and promote Black health. "TAKING UP SPACE ONE CLIMB AT A TIME"
Pull up and enjoy a day in nature and discover the joys of the outdoors in a safe and well-designed environment. For all levels of ability with slopes adapted to your desires. From beginner kids trails to more advanced cross country trails. No prior skiing experience required. Participants will gain a sense of confidence while navigating the groomed trails. Overall, this Intro is designed to provide participants with key notions of classic ski techniques such as, diagonal stride, weight transfer, balance, uphill and downhill technique. Activity open to all age groups 5 and older. We thought of everything so you can sit back, relax and have fun (Transportation and rentals included)
Okay so climbing ice sounds crazy, but don't worry we got you! Come join us on a small beginner friendly wall here in MTL. This wall is between 8 and 12 meters and is located near Parc Jean-Drapeau Île Sainte-Hélène a few steps from La Ronde. BUS ACCESSIBLE hell ya. All technical equipment is provided and you will be safely supervised by a team of professionals accredited by the Fédération québécoise de la montagne et de l’escalade (FQME). The duration of the activity is 3 hours/ session. You're just a hop skip and a climb away from the best climbing adventure.
INTRO TO DOWNHILL SKI & SNOWBOARD
February 11th & 12th
This introductory program prioritizes fun and joy, with no prior skiing experience required. Participants will build a sense of confidence, each lesson is designed to provide participants with key notions of downhill ski techniques such as, diagonal stride, weight transfer, balance. Activity open to all age groups 3 and older.
February 18th
OAC SKI
Let's spice things up a bit and take you off trail skiing. Learning how to get around on OAC skis and discover the joys of off-trail. OAC skiing offers all the advantages of skiing. A mix between a ski and a snowshoe. Several viewpoints descending off the trails. Intermediate trail.
INTRO TO SNOWSHOEING
February 19th
Snowshoeing through the forest. 2 different trails led by 1 instructor each. Participants will get a chance to snowshoe the wooded trails. What started thousands of years ago as an essential mode of winter transportation has evolved into a popular recreational activity.
February 26th
SKATING IN THE ENCHANTED FOREST
Skating in the trails of a pine forest during the day and evening is an activity that you must experience. Sheltered from the winter wind, skating on a smooth ice with a picture of pine trees full of freshly fallen snow is quite magical. At the end of the day, you will leave with rosy cheeks and purified lungs. NO LESSONS need to have a basic skill of skating, adults could have support bars for assistance (limited quantity) please leave note in registration comments.
